1.> THANK YOU BROTHER FOR COMING THROUGH PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF

   >My names (as presented in my ID book) are Magome William Masemola. I hail from Limpopo, but I momentarily find self in Pretoria/Tshwane. I have acquired numerous aliases over the years, mainly due to my endeavours (e.g Thenativepoemusm, Will, Neonative, Poemusm etc), yes I am many people in one body, hilarious. I am a non wavering believer in music and literature, and I bring this forth without fear (there is a lot to learn about ourselves within these media).

2.> I MOST KNOW YOU AS A MUSIC COLLECTOR AND DIGITAL ARTIST, BUT WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO?

   >I am an electrical engineer by trade (yes even music collectors and artist may have 9-5s). With that said, my love for the arts creates a lovely balance with the technical nature of my employment, for me one cannot exist without the other.

3.> SO I GUESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE LOUIS VUITTON RANGE THAT WAS INSPIRED BY THE BASOTHO TRADITIONAL BLANKET, WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?

   >It is only timely that the world heeds the beauty of Africa. There has been many gruesome and ignorant depictions of this continent and its people, and that steals from its beauty. I am happy that Africa is starting to inspire the world.

4.> DO YOU THINK POLITICS WILL EVER SAVE OR REMEDY THE WORLD?

   >People will save the world. I have always believed that before we are politicians, economists, leaders etc, we are people, and that fundamental truth will be the world’s saviour. We cannot place hope within a single vessel and label it politics and hope that it is our saviour. We as the people should elicit and perpetuate the saving (of the world).

5.> 3 SONGS THAT YOU THINK THE WHOLE WORLD SHOULD LISTEN TO?

   >I feel these songs will forever remain relevant to me, and the world would not be making a mistake by listening to them:

a) Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert: Part I

b) Fela Kuti - Teacher Don’t teach Me No Nonsense

c) The Example Of Twelves - Part 3 Though be lost, love shall Not II

6.> 5 SOUTH AFRIKAN UNDERGROUND ARTISTS THAT WE SHOULD LOOK OUT FOR?

   >a) L8 Antique

b) Tribe

c) Felix Laband

d) Closet Snare

e) Muzart

If you have time, you should listen to the above artists, the very best the country has to offer musically.

7.> WHAT STYLE OF MUSIC DO YOU DIG?

   >Before everything, I am a jazzman. I like every genre I engage to be inspired by jazz (I think it is the fundamental).

8.> YOUR IDEAL JAM SANDWICH(COLLABORATION)?

   >Jack Of Almost Trades and I, hilarious (I am serious lad).

9.> DO YOU PRODUCE? PLAY ANY INSTRUMENTS?

   >No I do not produce. hilarious! Everyone has their own place in the world and mine is to consume music, not create it. If we were all producers who would be the audience?

I am about to start learning the bass guitar, excited about that. I think it is a very sexy instrument.

10.> NEED FOR SPEED OR GRAN TURISMO?

     >Gran Turismo, it is closer to reality. It actually feels like one is driving an actual car, I term it a commercial and inexpensive driving simulator.

11.> WHAT IS THE STATE OF SOUTH AFRIKAN MUSIC? ANY NICE TITLES IN YOUR COLLECTION?

     >South African music, is gradually progressing. This is signified by the amount of local acts that are exported from our country. We should all be proud, as this places us on the map and can only further strengthen our base moving forward. it is always a great indicator of progression, when one’s music is showcased to the world.

12.> WHERE YOU HANG OUT IN PRETORIA? ANY NICE SPOTS THERE?

     >There are limited ‘nice’ spaces in Pretoria, but there are two that deserve a mention I feel. +27 cafe in Hatfield and Mushroom Loungeatery in Sunnyside. They are dissimilar to the normal spaces we have around here.

13.> ANY LAST WORDS?

     >Hilarious! “Any last words?”, always proves to be the most difficult of all questions. I never know what to say. I will just keep it as concise and laconic as I can. Thank you to Jazz x Herb Radio for affording me the space to render myself (thoughts, believes and opinion) to the world, it has been a complete pleasure to be featured.

Salute!
